Position Summary:
The primary responsibility is the performance of mammography studies requiring independent judgment, extended knowledge and expertise to apply ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis.
Education, License & Certification:
Bachelor Degree required. Graduate of 24 month Radiologic Technology program in an American Medical Association approved school. Must be registered and licensed Mammography technologist within 2 years meeting the requirements for registry by the ARRT and NYS; or temporary NYS license pending RT and LRT.
Experience:
Appropriate formal training and/or practical experience in specialized areas of x ray technology prior to assuming duties of those areas of job function.
Essential Functions:
Performs procedures in Radiography, Mammography, Stereotactic Breast Biopsy. Must possess high ethical standards with respect to discretion and regard for confidentiality. Must demonstrate ability to communicate and interact with a wide cross section of individuals in a courteous and tactful manner. Must demonstrate ability to work with Director and/or Supervisor on specific projects and/or reports (e.g., Quality Assurance monitors, Quality Control procedures, devising and revising and implementing policies and procedures) as assigned. Must demonstrate ability to assist in developing skills for other departmental personnel, including explanation of different procedures or duties. Demonstrates ability to participate in a professional manner in inter‐departmental, hospital and/or community programs as assigned. Demonstrates ability to instruct patient and family. Fully supports and utilizes the principles of Total Quality. Must be physically able to move and/or lift patients using good body mechanics. Performs technical aspects of Radiography, Mammography, and Stereotactic Breast Biopsy on in patients and out patients per established procedures. Schedules and coordinates tests; performs duties under professional supervision of the Radiologist. Informs supervisor of problems within the department with regard to equipment function. Will perform any and all duties inherent in Mammography Technologist job description as needed. May be called in on off duty hours. Must be aware of and follow all hospital and department specific policies and procedures. Attends all mandatory training in service as assigned. May be required to work holidays, weekends, and shifts other than that which is regularly assigned.
Other Duties:
Performs other duties as assigned. Maintain ACR requirements. Maintain Fuji CR QA. Maintain Cedara QA on Radiologist workstation. Maintain MQSA/FDA requirements. Maintain NY State requirements. Maintains Stereotactic guidelines.
