    Job Description

    The 2-4 ELA Coach plays a vital role in supporting teachers, enhancing student literacy outcomes, and promoting a culture of continuous growth and collaboration. This position is designed for an experienced educator with a strong foundation in early literacy and a passion for empowering both students and teachers. The primary focus of the instructional coach is to guide and mentor teachers in implementing student-centered, research-based instructional practices through on-site professional development. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of best practices in English language instruction and a commitment to fostering meaningful, effective learning experiences.

    + Demonstrated strong leadership in fostering a positive school culture centered on literacy, effectively inspiring and influencing staff and students to engage in meaningful literacy practices.

    Job Duties

    + Provide personalized coaching, modeling, and feedback to 2-4 teachers to improve literacy instruction and student outcomes.

    + Collaborate with teachers to design and implement data-driven literacy lessons aligned with curriculum standards, including the use of small group and individualized instruction.

    + Lead professional development sessions focused on early literacy best practices, including phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, comprehension, writing, and blended learning approaches.

    + Support educators in effectively using student data to identify learning gaps, refine instructional strategies, and plan targeted interventions, including RTI (Response to Intervention) strategies.

    + Facilitate the creation and use of formative assessments to guide instruction, measure student growth, and monitor progress toward learning goals.

    + Assist teachers in integrating technology and innovative teaching strategies to support all learners, including students with disabilities, English language learners (ELL), and other specialized student populations.

    + Foster a dynamic, inclusive, and engaging learning environment that encourages student participation and a lifelong love for reading.

    + Mentor and collaborate with grade-level teams, providing ongoing support for blended learning, project-based learning, and co-teaching practices.

    + Stay current with research on literacy education, share insights with colleagues, and provide access to relevant resources, including articles, books, and instructional tools.

    + Participate in the data team process, including creating common formative assessments and refining curriculum objectives.

    + Provide follow-up support through classroom observations, walkthroughs, and targeted coaching sessions.

    + Promote the school's educational programs through digital platforms and social media to enhance community engagement.

    + Attend and actively participate in school leadership meetings, contributing to the development of instructional goals and professional learning plans.

    + Act in a professional and ethical manner, adhering to school policies and supporting a culture of continuous improvement.

    + Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of School or supervisor.

    Qualifications:

    + Master's degree in Education, Literacy, or a related field required.

    + Valid teaching certification in early childhood or elementary education required

    + Minimum of five to seven years of successful classroom teaching experience, preferably in primary grades.

    + Able to work an 11- month position

    + Demonstrated expertise in early literacy instruction and best practices.

    + Strong communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.

    + Ability to coach and mentor adult learners in a supportive, non-judgmental manner.

    + Proficiency in using data to drive instruction and improve student outcomes.

    + Familiarity with evidence-based reading programs and assessments.

    + Commitment to equity, inclusion, and meeting the needs of diverse learners.

     

    Salary

     

    In accordance with REACH Academy Charter School's salary step scale and verification of prior years of teaching. Step 1 starts at $45,000 and Step 11 is $65,830. You must have a valid teaching certificate to start on the salary steps or be working towards completion of certification. This position is an 11-month position, and the salary will be annualized for 11 months.
