We have a very competitive salary scale that pays higher than most local districts. Our starting salary for a 1st year teacher with no prior experience starts at $45,000, with valid teaching certification and $40,000 if working towards teaching certification. Salary increases with years of prior experience. Will give up to 10 years of prior credit.

Job Description

REACH Academy Charter School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teacher Assistant to support classroom instruction and ensure a positive, productive learning environment for all students. The Teacher Assistant will work closely with lead teachers to promote academic achievement, social-emotional development, and school readiness, helping to create a structured, supportive, and engaging classroom experience.

Key Responsibilities

+ Assist the classroom teacher in preparing instructional materials and organizing classroom activities.

+ Provide academic support to individual students or small groups, reinforcing lessons and helping to clarify directions and concepts.

+ Supervise students in a variety of settings, including the classroom, hallways, cafeteria, and during arrival and dismissal times.

+ Monitor and manage student behavior in alignment with school expectations and classroom rules.

+ Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment.

+ Observe student progress and behavior, and communicate observations with the teacher to support learning outcomes.

+ Perform clerical duties such as photocopying, filing, and organizing instructional materials as needed.

+ Participate in faculty meetings, staff development sessions, and required training.

+ Support school events and classroom celebrations as needed.

+ Communicate effectively and respectfully with students, teachers, and occasionally with families.

+ Perform other related duties as assigned by the Head of School or classroom teacher.

Qualifications

+ NYS Teacher Assistant Certification is preferred but not required.

+ Experience working with children in an academic or childcare setting, preferably in an urban school environment.

+ Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of educators and students.

+ Strong interpersonal skills and a positive, professional demeanor.

+ Dependable, punctual, and flexible in meeting classroom and school needs.

Compensation

$25,600-$27,000 for a 10-month position
