Summary Purpose for the Position
This Mobility Coordinator (MC) position is responsible for providing housing and financial coaching services to families with the Housing Choice Vouchers as a part of The Housing Council at Pathstone Mobility Program. The MC holds the primary responsibility of working with families as they choose between neighborhoods, prepare to put in applications, search for homes, and as they transition into their new neighborhoods. The MC also assists in enrolling families into the program, hosts workshops, and works closely with other program staff to assist families in their moves. The role entails significant interpersonal skills and requires experience in human services. Ability to plan and lead workshops and classes. Must be able to learn and use required program database. Bilingual (Spanish/English Preferred)
Requirements (Education, Experience, Certification, Knowledge, Skill):
Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Social Services, Psychology or a similar field, and at least 1 year of relevant work experience; or 6 or more years of previous work experience in a similar field. Direct practice experience is required. Knowledge of the Housing Choice Voucher program is preferred.
Knowledge of Local, state, and/or federal safety net programs, knowledge of the greater Rochester rental housing market, and the role systemic racism plays in shaping communities.
Best practices and approaches to participant support such as motivational interviewing, person-centered, and strengths-based approach.
Strong time management and organizational skills.
Ability to work with a diverse population
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office software including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.
Ability to provide ongoing support services to participants.
Read credit reports and provide basic information on how to improve credit scores.
Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to a diverse populations, develop rapport and trust among program participant.
Use the internet to research and obtain information related to available rental housing, navigate case management software packages, assist clients and property owners in solving leasing and tenancy-related issues.
Perform duties of the position with minimal direction and complete tasks in a time-sensitive environment.
Position Responsibilities
Support participants with Housing Choice Vouchers and assist them in moving to an opportunity area, including assessing participants’ strengths and barriers to moving, referring to outside service agencies, and helping to maintain motivation when participants are faced with challenges.
Assist families in developing goals and assess their progress as steps are taken toward achieving individual goals.
Provide ongoing support to participants as they navigate the housing search process.
Assist participants in contacting property owners, assist with rental applications and accompany to tours on an individual basis.
Host group workshops developed by the program that support the housing search journey.
Perform post-move in-home check-ins and consequent follow-ups.
Work with other program staff to communicate with property owners and participants. Assist in resolving concerns that may arise. Brainstorm with the team to identify possible solutions as needed.
Track participant and property owner data using the designated program database.
Must be able to review regulations, interpret program information, and produce information needed for reporting.
Position is responsible for all relevant program compliance with the Housing Choice Voucher and Housing Counseling Programs.
Participate in interviews by the research partner and other research related activities as requested.

The following physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job:
Sit – up to 6 hours in a regular workday
Stand – 4 - 6 hours in a regular workday
Climb – 1 – 2 hours in a regular workday (includes stairways)
Lift up to 40 pounds as needed
Travel to multiple locations
