Zurich is currently looking to hire an experiencedFinancial Institutions Underwriter, Wholesale E&S/Mid-Senior to join our Wholesale Financial Institution team! This position is dedicated to the wholesale broker channel and presents a great opportunity to join our Financial Institution team in Chicago! While Chicago is the preferred location, we are also open to candidates in New York City, Chicago or Atlanta.

In this role, you will underwrite and perform financial analysis across financial institution risks. The position will have technical, transactional and market facing responsibilities; and it will also make contributions in the areas of product/proposition development, marketing, fulfillment, and portfolio management.

Responsibilities include:

+ Generating, underwriting and analyzing financial institution new and renewal policies.

+ Market facing and production with wholesale brokers.

+ Administering and monitoring underwriting rules and guidelines, insurance laws and regulations and rating manual rules.

+ Working within broad limits and authorities on highly complex assignments.

+ Managing a portfolio of accounts and developing a pipeline of business.

+ Collaborating and cross selling with other stakeholders and lines of business within Zurich.

This role will be filled at either Financial Institution Underwriter the Mid-Senior Level. The hiring manager will determine the appropriate level based upon the selected applicant’s experience and skill set relative to the qualifications listed for this position

Financial Institution Underwriter Basic Qualifications:

+ High School Diploma or Equivalent and 1 or more years of experience in the Insurance or Market Facing area.OR

+ High School Diploma or Equivalent and 2 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support areaAND

+ Knowledge of the insurance industry and the legal and regulatory environment

+ Knowledge of underwriting philosophy, techniques, national/local filing regulations and guidelines

OR

Mid-Senior Financial Institution Underwriter Basic Qualifications:

+ High School Diploma or Equivalent and 3 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area.OR

+ High School Diploma or Equivalent and 6 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support areaOR

+ Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 1 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing areaOR

+ Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 4 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support areaAND

+ Knowledge of line/s of business and the legal and regulatory guidelines

+ Knowledge of time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business

+ Experience with Microsoft Office

Preferred Qualifications:

+ Bachelor’s degree

+ Underwriting experience with financial institution products

+ Established wholesale broker relationships in targeted region

+ Service oriented and responsive

+ Strong negotiation skills

+ Strong verbal and written communication skills

+ Microsoft Office skills

We encourage candidates with salary expectations beyond the provided range to apply as they will be considered based on their experience, skills, and education. The compensation indicated represents a nationwide market range and has not been adjusted for geographic differentials pertaining to the location where the position may be filled. The combined salary range for this position is $78,000.00 - $139,000.00. The proposed salary range for theFinancial Institution Underwriter is $78,000.00 -$108,000.00, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 10%. For the Mid-Senior is $94,000.00 - $139,000.00, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 10%.
