Job Description – Staff Chaplain
Your Job:
The Chaplain will participate in the ministry of the department by providing spiritual care and emotional support to patients, families and staff throughout the hospital and in an assigned clinical area. You will be responsible for on-call duty and hospital rounding.
Supports the mission, vision, values, and strategic goals of Methodist Health System.
Your Job Requirements:
• Masters of Divinity or equivalent degree.
• Minimum of 4 completed units of Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE Accredited preferred).
• Ability to relate to people of all ages, all religions, cultures and ethnic groups.
• Ordination and/or endorsement from appropriate religious body. (preferred)
• 1 year hospital experience.
• Board Certified Chaplain (preferred) or BCC eligible (BCC required within two years of hire)
Your Job Responsibilities:
• Participates in the ministry of the department by providing pastoral care, spiritual support, and emotional support to patients and families through regular rounding, clinical assignments, and responding to all hospital codes.
• Coordinates and facilitates release and transport of deceased bodies to appropriate agency.
• Interfaces with external agencies/organizations inclusive of (but not limited to) funeral homes, Medical Examiners, Organ and Tissue donation, community support groups, religious organizations.
• Provides grief support and counseling as appropriate to deceased’s family and friends.
• Collaborates with local religious leaders, chaplain volunteers, visiting clergy, and spiritual caregivers.
• Participates in other pastoral and administrative duties as assigned under the direction of the clinical manager.
• Provide staff support through regular rounding, organized support programs, and debriefings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education
