    Job Summary: Technologists use multidisciplinary skills to perform a variety of procedures using sealed and unsealed radionuclides, and radiation detecting equipment in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.

     

    Minimum Education: Graduate from an AMA approved program in Nuclear Medicine Technology.

     

    Licensure, Registration and/or Certification: CNMT (Certification in Nuclear Medicine Technology) or ARRT (N) License, CPR certified.

     

    Work Experience: 6 months to 1 year related experience.

     

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Excellent time management, multitasking, organizational, and prioritizing skills. Working knowledge with Microsoft Word and Excel. Effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication with a broad spectrum of individuals.

     

    Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Perform technical exams accurately and in a timely fashion. To include operation of equipment, transferring patients to the exam table, correct positioning of patients for their exam, and providing a safe environment for the procedure. Perform and document quality control on all equipment to ensure that it is with in the calibration date, meets regulatory compliance standards, and verify it operates with in the set specifications. Preparation, administration, disposal, and documentation of radiopharmaceuticals, pharmaceuticals, oral contrast, and IV contrast under the direction of the physician authorized user, and the protocols set by the Medical Director of the department. Accurately document and maintain records of shipping, receiving use, storage, and disposal of all radioisotopes per NRC, DEQ, and SFHS policies. Accurately document and maintain room surveys and wipe tests, bioassays, and assist in quality attainment programs. Schedule exams, verify physician written orders, and send documentation to medical records. Maintain orderliness and cleanliness of rooms and equipment. Stock supplies and linen as needed. Cross-train in other department technologies as required for better utilization of personnel.

     

    Decision Making: Independent judgment in planning sequence of operations and making minor decisions in a complex technical or professional field.

     

    Working Relationships: Coordinates activities of others (does not supervise). Leads others in same work performed (does not supervise). Works directly with patients and/or customers. Works with internal customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with external customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with other healthcare professionals and staff.

     

    Special Job Dimensions: Available for emergency call back.
