    Position Description:

    Employees in this position are responsible for augmenting a supervising physician's data gathering abilities to reach

    decisions and institute patient care plans. Provides health care services to patients under direction and responsibility of a Physician.

    Major/Essential Functions:

    + Provide clinical support to physician.

    + Assess, plan implement and evaluate clinical needs of patients.

    + Assist with consults and admissions.

    + Assist with rounds ( Writing notes, orders, wound care, etc.}

    + Write discharge orders and dictate discharge notes.

    + Provide in-patient and out-patient care. Provide wide variety of surgical procedures.

    + None required to be on-call, as scheduled.

    + Collaborate and serve as liaison between providers, consultants and medical staff.

    + Participate in outreach and educational events.

    + Adhere to all TTUHSCEP policies, procedures and processes.

    + Personally demonstrate, display, and act in accordance with TTUHSCEP’s values (Service, Respect, Accountability, Integrity, Advancement, and Teamwork). Actively promote and encourage staff across the institution.

    + Perform other duties as assigned.

    Required Qualifications:

    + Graduation from a Physician Assistant's training program approved by the Council on Allied Health Education Accreditation of the American Medical Association.

    + Current Physician Assistant license in the State of Texas or ability to transfer license to Texas.

    + Certification as a Physician Assistant as evidenced by passing the examinations given by the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants.

    + OR Graduation from an accredited school of nursing as a nurse practitioner from an approved certification program recognized by Texas Board of Nursing.

    + Current R.N. license as approved by the Texas Board of Nursing or ability to transfer license to Texas.

    + Certification as a Nurse Practitioner from an approved certification program as recognized by Texas Board of Nursing or ability to transfer certification to Texas.
