Position Description:

Major/Essential Functions:

+ Provide patient care and diagnosis in all areas of Pediatrics to newborns, children, and adolescents

+ Examine patients to determine the presence of disease and establish preventive health practices

+ Determine the nature and extent of disease or injury

+ Prescribe and administer medications and immunizations

+ Supervise physician assistants and/or nurse practitioners in the clinical and inpatient setting

+ Participates in the education of medical students and residents

+ Adheres to institutional and departmental policies and procedures

+ Engages in the advancement of scientific knowledge through research and/or scholarship

+ Ensures compliance with HIPAA and billing regulations

+ Serves the academic community through participation in institutional governance, such as committee work and other administrative duties

+ Contributes to the community through academically-related public service complementary to the institutional mission

+ Demonstrates professionalism in accordance with the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine’s Declaration of Faculty Professional Responsibility

+ Upholds and promotes the values-based culture of TTUHSC El Paso

+ Board Certified in General Pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics for the rank of assistant professor or higher

+ Established or emerging regional or national reputation for the rank of Associate Professor or higher

+ Successful completion of an ACGME-accredlted Pediatrics Residency Program

+ Texas medical license, or eligibility for medical licensure in the State of Texas
