Job Summary
Health Information Technology & Services (HITS) plays a role in the success of Michigan Medicine by providing clinicians, educators, researchers, students, and staff with technology-related information, products, and support. HITS also provides institutional expertise related to IT strategy, security, infrastructure, and resource management.
The Cloud Center of Excellence (CCoE) at Michigan Medicine is a strategic division dedicated to driving cloud adoption, governance, and operational excellence across the organization. The CCoE serves as the central hub for cloud expertise, ensuring the secure, efficient, and scalable use of cloud technologies to support clinical, research, and administrative initiatives.
With a focus on innovation, best practices, and compliance, the CCoE is responsible for establishing cloud strategies, architecture standards, and operational frameworks that align with the institution's mission. The division collaborates closely with IT, security, and business stakeholders to optimize cloud environments, enabling high-performance computing, data analytics, and mission-critical applications - including the management and optimization of Epic EHR and Sectra PACS in the public cloud.
By fostering a culture of continuous improvement, automation, and cloud-native solutions, the CCoE ensures that Michigan Medicine remains at the forefront of digital transformation, delivering reliable, cost-effective, and cutting-edge cloud services that enhance patient care, research advancements, and operational efficiencies.

Responsibilities*
Cloud Operations Strategy and Planning:
+ Develop and execute a strategic roadmap for cloud operations, aligned with organizational goals and objectives.
+ Define operational standards, policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure efficient and effective management of cloud resources.
+ Ensure strategic alignment with the operational needs and goals for the Epic EHR and Sectra PACS/VNA environments in the public cloud.
Team Leadership and Management:
+ Recruit, onboard, and manage a team of cloud operations professionals, providing leadership, mentorship, and guidance.
+ Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the cloud operations team.
+ Provide specialized training and development opportunities for team members focused on the management of Epic EHR and Sectra PACS/VNA in the cloud.
Infrastructure Management and Optimization:
+ Oversee the provisioning, configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of cloud infrastructure and services, ensuring adherence to operational standards and best practices.
+ Implement automation and optimization techniques to improve efficiency, scalability, and cost-effectiveness of cloud resources.
+ Ensure the robust operation of Epic EHR and Sectra PACS/VNA within the cloud infrastructure, addressing unique requirements and challenges associated with these systems.
Incident and Problem Management:
+ Establish incident response procedures and protocols to promptly address and resolve incidents impacting cloud-based systems and services.
+ Lead root cause analysis efforts to identify underlying issues and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
+ Continuously monitor and optimize the performance of Epic EHR and Sectra PACS systems in the public cloud to ensure high availability and reliability.
Performance Monitoring and Optimization:
+ Implement monitoring and alerting mechanisms to proactively monitor the performance, availability, and security of cloud-based systems and services.
+ Analyze performance metrics and trends to identify optimization opportunities and improve the overall performance of cloud workloads and applications.
+ Continuously monitor and optimize the performance of Epic EHR and Sectra PACS systems in the public cloud to ensure high availability and reliability.
Security and Compliance:
+ Ensure compliance with security policies, regulations, and industry standards (e.g., HIPAA, HITRUST) for cloud operations.
+ Collaborate with security teams to implement security controls, threat detection, and incident response measures to protect cloud resources.
+ Specifically ensure that the Epic EHR and Sectra PACS/VNA systems comply with all relevant security and privacy regulations in the cloud environment.
Vendor Management and Relationship:
+ Manage relationships with cloud service providers and vendors, including contract negotiation, service level agreement (SLA) management, and vendor performance evaluation.
+ Stay informed about new cloud technologies, services, and offerings, and assess their potential impact on cloud operations.
+ Maintain strong vendor relationships to support the seamless integration and operation of Epic EHR and Sectra PACS/VNA in the public cloud.
Required Qualifications*
+ Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
+ 7 to 10 years of increasingly responsible experience in the operation and management of IT services.
+ Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to lead and inspire a team in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
+ Proven experience in cloud operations management, preferably in a healthcare or academic medical center environment with at least 8 years in cloud computing.
+ Strong knowledge of cloud computing concepts and technologies, with experience in public cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
+ Deep knowledge and experience with managing Epic EHR and Sectra PACS environments in the public cloud.
+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex technical issues and drive effective solutions.
Desired Qualifications*
+ Master's degree preferred.

Background Screening
