**UW Medical Center - Northwest has an outstanding opportunity for a FULL-TIME DAYS, MEDICAL TECHNOLOGIST LEAD.** This position provides opportunities to work in a fast-paced, challenging, diverse and rewarding environment. The Medical Technologist performs, in one or more areas of the Laboratory, routine and complex medical laboratory tests for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease, as ordered by physician. The Lead Medical Technologist exercises independent judgment, makes decisions, troubleshoots complex problems, develops new tests, and provides leadership and direction to technicians and lab assistants.
RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Regularly assigns, instructs, and checks the work of others.
+ Leads the professional and technical work performed by Medical Laboratory Technicians, Technologists and Trainees in Clinical Hematology, Coagulation and Transfusion Support Services.
+ Exercises expertise in development/evaluation/performance of new or specialty procedures and coordinates the development and evaluation of new laboratory tests and procedures.
+ Performs and provides high level support at a professional level of moderate to high complexity manual and automated clinical diagnostic tests used in the screening, diagnosing, and treating of pathological conditions.
+ Rotates and maintains competency in all sections where he/she has been trained.
+ Provides direction to laboratory staff and students; organizes staff and student teaching programs; and performs administrative functions.
+ Follows safety/biohazard procedures and practices “Universal Precautions” at all times.
+ Responsible for other duties as assigned. **REQUIREMENTS** Accredited Bachelor's Degree in Medical Laboratory Science OR equivalent education/experienceANDMedical Laboratory Science certification with the American Society for Clinical Pathology or equivalent, or certification with a specialty organization appropriate to the laboratory divisionANDThree years of professional experience including one year as a Medical Laboratory Scientist 2 or equivalent
