Summary You will serve as an Emergency Services Dispatcher in the Emergency Dispatch Center of Fire and Emergency Services of MCRD ERR PI SC. Responsibilities You will provide emergency police, fire and medical services by answering incoming emergency telephone calls. You will properly categorize the call, determine the appropriate public safety response, and dispatch field personnel and equipment. You will provide emergency medical dispatching (EMD) assistance to callers using he local authority’s emergency medical dispatch system. You will monitor status and availability of fire and medical field units to assure an appropriate response is made without the compromise of the quality of services to the public. You will refer non-emergency callers to appropriate civilian and governmental agencies. You will maintain reports and retrieve needed statistical information using the fire incident reporting system(s) as directed by local authority. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications GS-07: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Dispatching emergency vehicles including police, fire, and medical services personnel; 2) Assessing incoming calls to determine appropriate course of action; 3) Utilizing emergency communication equipment; and 4) Researching emergency response to hazardous material. GS-06: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Assisting in the dispatching of emergency vehicles including police, fire, and medical services personnel utilizing emergency communication equipment; and 2) Assessing incoming calls to determine appropriate course of action. Education Additional Information This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required. This position requires rotating shift work. Incumbent must have 20/20 correctable vision in each eye.
