    Candidates MUST meet the following basic qualifications to be considered for this role:

    + Advanced degree required

    + Minimum of 5 years of experience in civil rights compliance, human resources investigations, or related work.

    Additional Qualifications and Skills:

    + Comprehensive knowledge of Title IX and Title VI, including Title VI’s protections for individuals who face discrimination on the basis of their actual or perceived shared ancestry or ethnic characteristics, or citizenship or residency in a country with a dominant religion or distinct religious identity.

    + Mediation or other similar forms of alternative dispute resolution training and experience, or an eagerness to develop this skill

    + Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to communicate confidential and difficult information, to demonstrate compassion when interacting with Harvard community members, and the ability to work effectively with diverse groups.

    + Experience working with faculty, staff, and student populations

    + Accomplished presentation skills, oral and written as well as excellent reportorial and writing skills

    + Experience providing advice/guidance in responding to reports/disclosures of bias incidents and/or discrimination.

    This position has a 3-month orientation and review period.

    Responsibilities Include:

    + Serving as an expert consultant for Title IX Resource Coordinators and LDRs by providing ongoing technical assistance and consultation in highly sensitive, frequently urgent, and potentially volatile situations.

    + Facilitating Informal Resolutions under the University’s NDAB Policies and University policies related to sexual harassment and other sexual misconduct.

    + In collaboration with members of OGE/OCC, serving as subject matter expert in Title VI and Title IX matters, representing both offices in presentations, university-wide meetings, and related outreach and engagement.

    + In consultation with office leadership, assisting in creating professional development/training content for monthly Title IX Network and LDR Convenings.

    + Sharing in the Offices’ responsibilities to develop and deliver Title VI, Title IX and Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) compliant training for faculty, staff, and students.

    + Managing weekly and monthly reports within the Offices’ record-keeping software responsive to the Offices’ needs.

    + Supporting the Associate Title VI and Title IX Coordinator, LDRs, and OGE/OCC staff members in the preliminary conversation and initial review phases of formal complaints related to NDAB Policies.

    + Supporting data collection efforts and the development of the Offices’ Annual Reports.

    + Assisting in the annual submission of:

    + The Clery Act Campus Security Authority (CSA) reporting data for the Office for Gender Equity and Office for Community Conduct to the Harvard University Police Department.

    + The NCAA Sexual Violence Attestation in partnership with Harvard Athletics, and

    + Other reports, as assigned by the Associate Title VI and Title IX Coordinator.

    + Serving as secondary point of contact for responding to the Resource for Online Anonymous Disclosure (ROAD), the University’s anonymous reporting tool for disclosures of sexual harassment, other sexual misconduct, and gender-based misconduct.

    + Serving as secondary point of contact for responding to disclosures from Harvard University, Risk Management & Audit Services (RMAS).

    + Collaboratively managing the ongoing assessment and benchmarking of the Office’s efforts, including the work of the Title IX Network and Network of LDRs, and the review of incident-related data collection methods and software; identifies and analyzes trends (e.g., assisting Harvard University Police Department in gathering crime report data).

    Reporting to the University’s Associate Title VI and Title IX Coordinator, within the Office for Gender Equity (OGE) (https://oge.harvard.edu/) and Office for Community Conduct (OCC) (https://hwpi.harvard.edu/communityconduct/home) , the Deputy for Title VI and Title IX Compliance assists in the onboarding, support, and training of 70+ local Title IX Resource Coordinators and 80+ Local Designated Resources (LDRs). In collaboration with the University’s Associate Title VI and Title IX Coordinator, the Deputy will serve as an Informal Resolution Facilitator and subject matter expert for Title VI and Title IX as well as the University policies related to Non-Discrimination and Anti-Bullying (https://provost.harvard.edu/files/provost/files/non-discrimination\_and\_anti-bullying\_policies.pdf) Policies (NDAB) and University policies related to sexual harassment and other sexual misconduct.
