Vertafore is seeking a full-time Security Analyst II in Denver, CO to join its Information Risk Management team. As a Security Analyst II working in Vertafore’s Denver office, you will start building knowledge to become the subject-matter expert within Vertafore’s Information Risk Management program which encompasses Security, Compliance and Risk Management. The Security Analyst II is responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and responding to cybersecurity threats and incidents while supporting security operations and compliance initiatives. This mid-level role requires hands-on experience with security tools, incident response, and vulnerability management. The ideal candidate has a solid technical foundation in cybersecurity and a proactive approach to improving security defenses. This is a highly collaborative position, working with representatives from other key departments throughout Vertafore, ensuring that we have effective processes and controls in place, leading various projects, and reporting on program status on a regular basis.
Core Requirements and Responsibilities:
Essential job functions included but are not limited to the following:
+ Work with management and business leaders to fulfill Information Risk Management’s strategy.
+ Monitor and triage alerts from current controls.
+ Analyze and interpret threat intelligence to improve defenses.
+ Assist with security assessments, audits, and compliance initiatives (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST, SOC 2).
+ Participate in security incident response and forensic investigations.
+ Stay up to date with emerging cybersecurity threats and trends.
+ Support vulnerability management and remediation efforts, Identifying vulnerabilities and misconfigurations across IT environments.
+ Document security events, findings, and operational processes including root cause analysis, and partner with teams to implement corrective actions.
+ Work with cross-functional teams to enhance overall security posture.
+ Continuously monitor security alerts and events using security tools.
+ Mentor junior security analysts and provide training on security best practices.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

+ Clear communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging to the intended audience.
+ Strong understanding of cybersecurity concepts, including threat analysis, vulnerability management, and incident response.
+ Can carry out specific tasks and execute plans while providing constructive feedback.
+ Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
+ Experience with security monitoring tools such as SIEM, IDS/IPS, EDR, and firewalls.
+ Ability to maintain a positive attitude in a dynamically changing environment.
+ Requires minimal management attention—self managed and can work in a fluid environment.
+ Must be inquisitive and quick learner with attention to detail.
+ Familiarity with security frameworks and standards (e.g., NIST CSF, MITRE ATT&CK, CIS Controls).
+ Basic knowledge of cloud security (AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus.
Qualifications:
+ Seeking candidate with 3 to 6 years relevant experience in Information Security.
+ Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
+ Certifications such as Security+, CEH, GSEC, or equivalent preferred.
+ Experience in a fast-paced, ever-changing and growing environment preferred.
+ Experience with AWS and cloud-based services preferred.
+ Experience with Information Security, e.g. firewalls & networks, security controls, monitoring tools preferred.
+ Experience with SOC operations, incident response, or threat analysis is a plus.
+ Experience with scripting languages (Python, PowerShell, Bash) preferred.
Additional Requirements and Details:
+ Travel required up to 10% of the time.
+ Located and working from an office location.
+ Availability for on-call support as needed for security incidents.
+ Occasional lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds.
+ Strong commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
+ Frequent repetitive hand and arm movements required to operate a computer.
+ Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision (working on a computer, etc.).
+ Frequent sitting and/or standing.
