    Salary Range: $47.47 - $54.62

    Position Summary

    Under direction, performs echocardiography techniques. This role does not scan independently until incumbent passes registration and meets departmental competency assessment.

    Job Responsibilities

    + Performs echocardiograms and Doppler studies and explains procedures to patients and/or guardians. Utilizes portable equipment as necessary for performing echocardiograms on patients.

    + Performs quality assurance related activities. Maintains statistics, checks equipment, performs preventative maintenance and initiates calls for equipment service as necessary.

    + Assists in the scheduling of patients requiring an echocardiogram.

    + Ensures patient safety is maintained at all times.

    + Responsible for maintaining a sterile environment. Ensures standard infection control precautions are observed.

    + Records data, calculations and measurements of echocardiograms according to its anomaly.

    + Completes and distributes completed reports, digitized studies and videotapes as needed.

    + Assists with training fellows, visiting physicians, medical students and staff in the performance and interpretation of echocardiogram and Doppler studies.

    + Maintains inventory of supplies, equipment and/or reagents. May order supplies/equipment/reagents as authorized or ensure that needs are escalated appropriately. Receives supply orders and confirms accuracy of delivery. May assist with cost control.

    + Attends workshops, seminars and/or conferences to keep abreast of standards and best practices within the field. Disseminates information to colleagues and/or staff as appropriate.

    Education

    + Associate's Degree

    Experience

    Recent graduate of a CAAHEP or Bachelor’s degree program with a concentration in Echocardiography.

     

    Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or registry eligible status. Must pass registry within two months of hire.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    + Demonstrated working knowledge of echo-contrast and stress echocardiography.

    Licenses and Certifications

    + ARDMS Certification

    + Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or registry eligible status

    + BLS certification, issued by the American Heart Association.

     

    Working Conditions/Physical Demands

     

    Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time.

     

    Must be able to move 350 pound wheeled equipment as needed.
