    Job Summary

    Responsible for the development, implementation and coordination of all local government and external affairs and practices throughout the Big South Region (AL, GA, LA, MS, SC, TN and parts of AR, KY, TX and VA). Leads government and community affairs teams. Develops and implements legislative strategies and monitors local government actions and policies across company footprint. Participates with other senior leaders to establish region/group/company-wide processes, goals, and priorities in efforts to expand our network across the Big South footprint.

    Job Description

    Core Responsibilities:

    + Works as a strategic partner with corporate, divisional and regional senior leaders to accomplish business goals of the organization.

    + Leads Community Investment across the Big South footprint to include programs like Team Up, RISE and Lift Zones.

    + Leads Grant activity related to broadband expansion and works with government representatives throughout buildout processes.

    + Develops and maintains relationships with government representatives and regulators at the federal, state, and local level. Travels to attend meetings, hearings, or other events to represent the company.

    + Monitors local business environment and legislative, regulatory, and public policy activities that affect the Company and telecommunications industry. Coordinates and leads lobbying activity, as needed.

    + Collaborates with senior management and Federal and State Government Affairs personnel to develop and implement strategies that shape public policy regarding proposed legislative and regulatory initiatives.

    + Provides guidance and support at all management levels to ensure consistent and sound state government policy and enhances communication with state officials.

    + Sets strategic direction and overall guidelines for cable franchise renewals, including financial calculations and parameters for renewals. Serves as an escalation point for issues involving complex and/or difficult franchise renewals, franchise transfers and franchise non-compliance issues.

    + Drafts, analyzes and/or presents legislation, ordinances, amendments, and testimony as necessary.

    + Leads the government and external affairs professional teams through inspirational leadership, driving team motivation and engagement; provides appropriate direction regarding proactive issues management as well as career development opportunities and support.

    + Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.

    + Must be able to travel, work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary.

    + Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
