    Qualifications:

    + Bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation or related field.

    + Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) and Licensed Recreational Therapist (LRT) in North Carolina.

    + Experience in behavioral health settings preferred.

    + Strong interpersonal skills and a passion for patient-centered care.

    Qualifications

    + Education: Bachelor’s degree, required.

    + Graduate of National Recreation and Parks Association / American Association of Leisure and Recreation (NRPA/AALR) accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree is required. New graduates after January 1, 2007 must hold National Certification (CTRS) and North Carolina State Licensure (LRT). Current practitioners must have the ability to obtain National Certification (CTRS) and North Carolina State Licensure (LRT) by January 1, 2008.

    + Experience: One year clinical experience in behavioral health, preferred.

    + Licensure/Certification: NC state approved curricula for restrictive interventions (facility specific) within 3 months of hire for Emergency Departments and Behavioral Health units, required.

    + Additional skills required:

    + Conduct assessments.

    + Maintain a caseload and responsible for documentation regarding caseload patients.

    + Provide clinical services to a wide range of ages, cultures and socio-economic backgrounds.

    + Keep accurate and appropriate record.

    + Perform well in a work environment dependent upon mutual support, a high degree of independence, and a strong team concept.

    + Skill at presenting to groups, facilitating group interaction and providing one to one sessions as needed.

    + Additional skills preferred: One year experience of mental health/substance abuse background with a working knowledge of psychiatric diagnosis and therapeutic interventions with the mental health/substance abuse population.
