We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Project Engineer to lead critical initiatives focused on military gearbox and pump casting mitigations and supplier transitions. In this dynamic role, you will serve as a key liaison between cross-functional teams—including the Value Stream, project engineering, and casting technology—to ensure alignment and support of plant output. You will be responsible for identifying and managing risks, driving cost-saving opportunities, supporting supplier transitions, and resolving technical inquiries, all while maintaining rigorous quality standards and project profitability.
This position requires strong communication skills, technical proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, and the ability to coordinate complex engineering changes in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.
What You Will Do
+ Provide Project Engineering leadership for military gearbox and pump casting mitigations and transitions
+ Identify, track, and manage mitigation plans for risks across military product lines
+ Liaise between the Value Stream, project teams, and casting technology / producibility as necessary to support plant output
+ Resolve Supplier Requests for Information (SRIs) by providing clarifications and processing Change Requests (CRs)
+ Manage piece part supplier transitions
+ Pursue cost saving opportunities to maximize project profitability.
+ Consolidate and present plans and progress reports relating to business aspects of the project.
+ Support Quality investigations as necessary when piece-part issues affect product deliveries.
+ Verify internal processes are being executed to reduce probability of engineering turnbacks.
+ Read and interpret drawings, provide mark ups, and coordinate drawing changes
+ Confidently provide clear, concise communications with peers and Collins leadership.
+ 10% Travel is possible
Qualifications You Must Have
+ Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience **or** an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience
Qualifications We Prefer
+ Experience with casting manufacturing and mechanical hardware is preferred
+ Mechanical Engineering Degree
+ Demonstrated leadership in a production role is preferred
+ Experience working with cross functional teams across department and business units is preferred

**Onsite:** Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

The salary range for this role is 101,000 USD - 203,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
