    PROGRAM SCIENTIST 3, Aeronautics and Astronautics, will report to the Associate Department Head in the overall initiative enabling the MIT Small Satellite Collaborative (SSC) to achieve its strategic program objects; be responsible for running the Collaborative on a daily basis; organizing campaigns to create and respond to funding opportunities from the US Government and private industry; and be the primary liaison for visitors to the Collaborative. The SSC is a joint effort between several AeroAstro space exploration research laboratories, researchers in the Earth Atmospheric and Planetary Sciences Department, the Media Lab, and the MIT Kavli Institute, as well as MIT Haystack Observatory, MIT Lincoln Laboratory.

    Job Requirements

    REQUIRED: Ph.D. in engineering or a related field; a minimum of seven years of experience; experience working with the commercial or government space industry; experience and comfort interacting with culturally diverse academic leaders, students and research sponsors; demonstrated commitment to diversity and serving diverse constituents; aptitude for financial responsibility; positive attitude and excellent interpersonal and communications skills for interacting with a diverse group of faculty, staff, students, and visitors; demonstrated administrative and organizational skills, including ability to multitask, set priorities, and manage competing priorities while also ensuring the accuracy of work through attention to detail; ability to productively seek out root causes of issues, conceive innovative solutions, and move from concept to implementation; and deal with confidential information and/or issues using discretion. PREFERRED: Experience with management of small satellite systems, or experience designing, building and launching them and/or in mission planning and concurrent engineering; eight to ten years of experience, which may include experience as a graduate student.
