Reporting to the Town Administrator, the Human Resources Director serves as the Town’s chief human resources officer and provides strategic guidance and leadership in the areas of talent acquisition and management, organizational development, employee and labor relations, classification and compensation, employee wellness, workplace culture, and compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
Examples of work include:
+ Advise and support Town leadership on workforce planning, organizational structure, compensation, employee relations, and personnel policy matters.
+ Plan and coordinate a strategic talent management program with a focus on retaining our talented workforce while also leveraging creative and innovative methods of recruiting purpose-driven and passionate professionals.
+ Drive meaning and purpose throughout the organization through employee coaching, leadership development opportunities, and cross-training.
+ Foster a workplace culture that champions innovation, excellence in service delivery, and collaboration across all stakeholders.
+ Oversee employment transactions and records, ensuring accuracy, security, and legal compliance.
+ Serve as a member of the labor negotiations team and act as liaison with the Town’s employee associations.
+ Lead and manage employee and labor relations, including workplace investigations; advise department heads through disciplinary actions.
+ Monitor and review current personnel policies, job classification and salary structures, collective bargaining agreements and recommend changes.
+ Serve as the Town’s Civil Rights Officer as it relates to employment, promoting equal employment opportunities.
Minimum qualifications include
+ Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Public Administration or related (Master’s degree preferred)
+ Minimum 5 years’ professional experience, preferably in a municipal setting
+ Thorough knowledge of public sector personnel practices
+ Collective bargaining experience
+ Knowledge of methods and practices of classification, compensation, recruitment, and selection.
+ Excellent communicator, collaborator, and strategic thinker with a track record of building trust
Full time position, 35 hours per week. Salary is within Grade 9 of the Administrative & Professional Compensation Plan, offering annual increases via step system. Pay range starts at $109,835 with the opportunity to advance to a max rate of $150,783, and includes comprehensive and generous benefits.
