Job Description:

We approach problems with creativity and innovation. Our Longmont, Colorado office is seeking a Staff Geologist with an interest in hydrogeology to join our engineering geology team. We are looking for a motivated candidate with attention to detail, a passion to continue to develop as a professional, and a desire to be part of a strong multi-disciplinary team. Our Longmont office includes civil, hydraulic, water rights, and geotechnical engineers; geologists; designers; and support professionals.

Job Responsibilities:
+ Assist in planning and performing geotechnical/hydrogeologic investigations, including preparing work plans, scopes, and field programs.
+ Document and report the results of geotechnical investigations, including:
+ Log of soil and rock test borings
+ Perform of in-situ testing
+ Install monitoring wells and geotechnical instrumentation
+ Single and multi-well testing
+ Collect laboratory testing samples of soil, rock and water
+ Prepare field reports
+ Perform geotechnical instrumentation monitoring.
+ Perform construction observation, including materials testing and field documentation, with opportunities for short and/or long-term field assignments.
+ Assist in preparing reports, plans, and specifications, including construction documents.
+ Set up and perform hydrogeologic models.
+ Learn to perform slope stability and seepage analyses.
+ Create basic plans and figures using GIS, Google Earth, and/or AutoCAD.
+ Support 3D modeling and design.
+ Assist project managers with coordination and administrative tasks, with opportunities for increased task and project management responsibility.
+ Collaborate as a team member within the Longmont office and with other Schnabel offices to effectively balance workload and resources.
Required Skills/Experience:
+ A bachelor's degree in geology, hydrogeology or geological engineering from an ABET-accredited institution. A master's degree in these fields is preferred but not required.
+ Basic understanding of hydrogeologic principles and analyses.
+ 0-4 years of professional experience.
+ Qualified to acquire or has already acquired the GIT/EIT certification with future ability to become a Licensed Professional Geologist or Engineer.
+ High proficiency in writing and reviewing reports in English.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
+ Willingness and ability to perform field work and travel out of state for several weeks at a time.
+ Ability to lift 50 pounds and be physically able to negotiate construction sites, enter trenches, climb ladders, and work outside.
+ Experience with the latest version of ArcPro or other mapping software is preferred, but not required.
+ Willingness to learn new programs and software applications for modeling.
+ Strong organizational and time management skills.

The compensation range for this position is between $52,000 to $86,000. Compensation for this position may vary based on geographic location and other factors. We remain committed to providing competitive and equitable compensation to all employees, regardless of their location.
