    General position summary:

    We are seeking an experienced Education Sales Consultant to drive sales and develop strong relationships within the K-12 and higher education sector. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of how public and private school systems operate and be adept at working with multiple stakeholders, including school districts, principals, heads of schools, deans, and educators.

     

    In this role, you will craft and deliver value-based messaging, positioning our ability to create transformative educational spaces as a key differentiator. You will leverage our local presence, design expertise, and state-of-the-art visualization tools to help schools and districts reimagine their learning environments.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

    + Develop and maintain relationships with key decision-makers in public and private K-12 schools and higher education, including administrators, facility managers, and educators.

    + Understand school funding sources, purchasing cycles, and decision-making processes to effectively position our solutions.

    + Collaborate with school stakeholders to assess needs and create customized furniture solutions that support modern learning methodologies.

    + Utilize advanced visualization tools to present design concepts and bring space planning ideas to life.

    + Differentiate our offerings based on our local expertise, design capabilities, and ability to create functional, engaging learning spaces.

    + Work closely with manufacturer representatives to ensure product alignment with client needs.

    + Manage the entire sales process from lead generation and presentations to closing deals and post-sale support.

    + Stay informed about trends in education, pedagogy, and learning space design to provide consultative guidance.

    Job Skills Required:

    + Strong knowledge of how public and private school systems operate, including decision-making hierarchies, funding mechanisms, and procurement processes.

    + Demonstrated ability to build trust and credibility with diverse stakeholders, from district leaders to classroom educators.

    + Experience presenting and selling value-based solutions, emphasizing design, flexibility, and learning outcomes.

    + Proficiency with space planning and visualization tools is a plus.

    + Self-motivated, with excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.

    + Ability to travel within the assigned region as needed.

    Education & Experience:

    + Minimum of 5 years of sales experience in the K-12 and higher education market—furniture, interiors, or related industries preferred.

    + Experience working in or for a school system for at least two years (e.g., administration, teaching, facility planning) is strongly preferred.

    Language Skills:

    + Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

    + Ability to write routine reports.

    + Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

    + Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    Mathematical Skills:

    + Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

    + Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

    Reasoning Ability:

    + Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

    + Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

    Computer Operations:

    + To perform this job successfully, an individual should have strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, and the ability to learn and effectively use software applications such as move management, accounting/billing, HRIS (Human Resources Information System), timekeeping and other applications used in the performance of job duties.

    Planning/Organization:

    + Ability to prioritize and re-prioritize as situations and needs change throughout the workday

    + Ability to multi-task and organize workflow to manage daily responsibilities, meet deadlines and prioritize work
