Description:
Position Purpose:
+ Manager, Patient Registration directs the management of the day-to-day Registration operations including planning, organizing, staffing, coordinating and collection practices for assigned hospital site.
+ Manages the utilization of the Patient Access software and computer systems within the department in order to protect the hospital's interest in confidentiality, data integrity and receivables.
+ Manages policy development and implementation, goal setting and problem solving for the Patient Access Department.

What You Will Do:
+ Directing - Directs department in establishing goals and policies and observes associates in performance of duties to evaluate efficiency, skill, abilities and behavior toward fellow workers and others for use in recommending human resources actions and determining productivity.
+ Resource Management - Develops, recommends and implements plans, goals and policies for the resource management of the unit, including budgeting and allocation of human resources, capital expenses, physical facilities, and supplies. Monitors and evaluates resource utilization productivity.
+ Continuous Quality Improvement - Establishes systems for monitoring, evaluating, reporting and improving the standards of Patient Registration.
+ Education and Training - Participates in planning and providing educational opportunities for better patient services, self development, and utilization of available healthcare services. Also attends seminars to enhance knowledge of admitting, billing, and collection regulations.
+ Communications - Establishes, maintains and improves strong positive relationships with the medical staff, the public, other Mount Carmel Health department and unit staff. Works with Information Resources to ensure data processing needs of various publics are met.
+ Innovation - Identifies and implements methods to assure state-of-the-art operations, and creates and recommends new or diversified services in a competitive healthcare environment.
+ Organization Participation - Participates in hospital related activities and local, regional, and national associations to develop and expand experience and knowledge of Patient Access. Participates in Department Head meetings. Responsible for budget preparation and departmental performances within budget guidelines. Performs other related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications:
+ Education: Bachelors Degree, preferably in Business Administration/Health Administration and /or continued education preferred.
+ Experience: At least five years experience in a progressive health care organization's Business Office/Registration Office. Preferably in a multi-facility operation. At least three years supervisory experience in a progressive health care organization.
+ Effective Communication Skills
+ Working knowledge of claims processing for health care providers, third party payers and the laws governing admitting, billing, credit and collections.
