The Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Endocrinology & Metabolism at the University of Virginia (UVA) School of Medicine is seeking a qualified Assistant Professor of Research (Research Support Track) to join the laboratory of Dr. Zhenqi Liu. This is a non-tenure track faculty position focused on research in diabetes, metabolic disease, and endocrine physiology.
The successful candidate will play a key role in expanding the division’s research portfolio by developing new research programs, designing and executing independent research projects, conducting data analysis, and contributing to the preparation of manuscripts for peer-reviewed publication. Other responsibilities include preparing and submitting grant proposals for research funding, overseeing daily laboratory operations, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The candidate will also supervise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students, implement biosafety and chemical safety protocols, and engage in mentored opportunities aimed at developing an independent research career.

+ Ph.D. in Physiology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, or a related field by appointment time.
+ A minimum of five years of research experience.
+ Strong oral and written communication skills, supported by a solid record of scientific publications and conference presentations.
