Job Description
The Assistant Director of Student Engagement organizes, administers, supervises, and evaluates comprehensive education, preventative, service, and recreational programs that meet the social, integrative, and holistic needs of students. This person will develop and coordinate effective programs which provide co-curricular and extra-curricular activities that complement students’ academic learning as well as assist the Director, Student Services with campus programs and other engagement activities.
Salary information: The expected salary for this position is $55,000.00-$60,000.00 annually.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Facilitate all major university student activities including Welcome Week, Homecoming, Spring Fling, and other major programming efforts.
+ Coordinate new student onboarding experiences such as Hatch Camp, TAMUT's freshman orientation "camp" experience.
+ Supervise and provide professional development to student programming assistants or other student staff as needed.
+ Serve as a staff liaison for programming efforts across campus.
+ Work with non-profits and agencies within the community to provide service-learning opportunities for students and organizations.
+ Implement and administer the Presidential Volunteer Service Awards program.
+ Coordinate with Executive Offices regarding the University's calendar of events and with Facilities Office to obtain authorization for use of university vehicles, campus facilities, and other resources for various activities/events.
+ Coordinate with student groups, campus wellness and other relevant departments to increase scope of services offered, visibility, and outcomes of campus events.
+ Collaborate with campus departments, alumni, and community organizations in the development of programs that connect A&M-Texarkana with the community and student leadership development.
+ Coordinate Homecoming Royalty nominations with student organizations, which includes collecting nominations, and facilitating the voting process.
+ Oversee Student Life social media initiatives and student workers involved in social media campaigns.
+ Work in partnership with Student Success on first year student experiences.
+ Create campus traditions and cultivate current campus tradition programs and/or events.
+ Prepare monthly report and evaluation of activities and programs for the Director of Student Services.
+ Serve as campus administrator for Presence (Involve).
+ Promote school spirit and a sense of university pride.
+ Develop and facilitate programs and/or opportunities that promote school spirit, and support student growth.
+ Create and initiate student engagement events in collaboration with TAMUT athletics.
+ Must be able to work irregular hours in conjunction with scheduled activities/programs and to accommodate the needs of day and night students.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Minimum Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
+ Six years of related experience in student activities
+ Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
+ Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Master's Degree or coursework towards master's degree
+ Experience in organizing and coordinating university student activities/programs
+ Three years' work experience, preferably in student affairs, admissions, or related area
+ Management experience, including supervision and delegation of staff or student workers
+ Strong attention to detail with the ability to plan, organize, and execute programs or initiatives effectively
+ Demonstrated ability to build relationships and collaborate with students, faculty, staff, and external partners
Other Requirements
+ Ability to travel occasionally and work beyond normal office hours and/or work on weekends
+ Ability to present information clearly and concisely
+ Effective decision-making skills
+ Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
+ Strong organizational and record maintenance skills
