Job Description

This role supports the Super App initiative, requiring high levels of autonomy, adaptability, and backend server expertise. You will be working in a complex integration environment where stakeholder expectations shift frequently, technical debt must be managed, and client-side logic cannot be assumed. Engineers must have the ability to reason about latency, design multi-step API orchestration workflows, and push back when needed while still delivering viable compromises. Experience with authentication and authorization flows, and supporting APIs consumed by diverse client teams, is crucial.

We are looking for a Staff Engineer who isnt afraid to use all their knowledge and communication skills to tackle complex problems. Our ideal candidate is detail-oriented and able to collaborate on the improvement of our software and systems. You will be involved in the structural design process, estimating costs, and performing quality control throughout the stages of implementation. A first-class staff engineer will be someone whose engineering expertise translates into streamlined and cost-effective processes.

To ensure success as a Staff Engineer, you should demonstrate specialized engineering knowledge and experience while designing, providing guidance, and implementing solutions to complex problems. You will work with business, information, and technology teams to recommend and implement technology solutions needed to enable leading-edge capabilities and develop comprehensive patterns that outline how those capabilities get realized in response to evolving business needs.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership and guidance to the digital engineering team, driving technical excellence, establishing best practices, and ensuring the use of industry-standard methodologies and technologies

Technology Evaluation: Research and evaluate emerging technologies, tools, and frameworks to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement in the digital health space

Software Development: Utilize advanced programming skills to design and implement complex features, optimize performance, and ensure code quality.

Problem Solving: Identify and solve complex technical problems that arise during the development process

Technical Insights and Recommendations: Deliver technical insights and recommendations to drive informed decision-making, ensuring that technical solutions align with business goals

Technology Selection and Integration: Provide recommendations on technology selection and integration, considering factors such as performance, scalability, security, accessibility, and maintainability

Troubleshooting and Guidance: Apply deep technical expertise to troubleshoot issues, provide guidance to the development team, and drive the resolution of technical challenges

Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, architects, and software developers, to define technical requirements and create robust and scalable architectures that meet business objectives

Mentorship: Mentor and guide junior engineers, helping them enhance their technical skills and grow professionally through knowledge-sharing activities, technical training, and fostering a culture of learning within the team

Skills and Requirements

Required Qualifications

8+ years of experience in large scale software development

7+ years of solution design and/or architecture experience, including capturing requirements in a customer-facing capacity.

5+ years of experience in designing and developing solutions using NodeJS, highly scalable microservices, REST APIs

3+ years of experience in AWS technology stack Excellent collaboration and communication skills required to ideate solutions that are sufficient and feasible to both the business leads and the technical teams.

Exceptional organizational, analytical, problem-solving, strategic thinking, and time management abilities.

Experience with optimization skills to improve performance, scalability, and usability of our applications.

Ability to develop technical briefs and detailed solution designs.

Extensive knowledge of engineering processes, structural design, and system optimization.

Experience solutioning auth mechanisms

Experience designing & supporting server systems with multiple clients

Experience designing & supporting systems with heavy business logic null
