Provide leadership, mentorship, and coaching to 2 direct reports and their teams (accounting, payroll, and HR — approx. 10-12 staff total)
Analyze and improve existing accounting workflows, train teams, and rewrite processes for clarity, efficiency, and consistency
Serve as the accounting system expert — bridging the gap between operations and finance
Partner with the CEO and external CFO to produce timely and accurate financial statements, budgets, and job cost reports
Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls
Assist with union reporting (multiple union relationships), though prior union experience is not required
Be a visible, approachable leader who contributes to both tactical execution and strategic improvement
Collaborate with the operations team to align financial insights with project performance

8–15 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in construction or a related field
Strong leadership and communication skills — approachable, upbeat, and collaborative
Experience with job costing, process improvement, and ERP systems
Tech-forward mindset with the ability to adapt systems to business needs
Able to thrive in a hands-on, evolving environment and build structure from the ground up
Union experience is a plus, but not required
