Description
Amazon is looking for a Program Manager with a strong understanding of materials, packaging, and the e-commerce journey. They should have a proven project management experience to own strategic, tactical, and cross-functional projects/programs across multiple verticals. The ideal candidate will leverage extensive program experience, combined with analytical capabilities. packaging knowledge, a keen sense of innovation, and supply chain understanding to lead projects from conception to completion.
We are seeking a Program Manager, Parcel Strategy to effectively manage the creation and enhancement of the AMXL Packaging strategy for the parcel goods in the network. In this role, you will baseline work streams and product types for defect reduction, scope large projects, partner with vendors for engagement and improvement, track project timelines, and develop mechanisms for communicating status, risk, and business challenges. The ideal candidate must be adept at cross-team coordination, have an understanding of packaging and materials, project management, and data analysis, with a proven history of delivering results.
Key job responsibilities
- Manage and oversee AMXL Packaging Parcel Strategy program.
- Develop and refine program strategies, with the north star of defect reduction.
- Set clear objectives, leveraging data analytics to drive improvements and achieve metrics.
- Regularly communicate with business leaders, vendors and external partners to drive adoption and improvement.
- Develop, implement, and oversee KPI reporting for a program portfolio, ensuring clear visibility of milestones and project performance.
- Up to 20% travel required.
A day in the life
You will be successful in this role if you can identify root causes for defects, develop new packaging solutions based on packaging materials, operational processes, and supply chain expertise. Work streams that you will participate in will include product and material testing, failure point identification, site visits around the network, and root cause identification. You will investigate and analyze supply chain and packaging trends to identify the best technical solutions that can solve problems for Amazon and our customers at a global scale. Once a solution is designed, you will quickly shift to an operator’s perspective to drive efficient and effective implementation across Amazon’s fulfillment network. In doing this, you use your concise and effective communication skills to keep cross-functional stakeholders and leaders informed of opportunities and blockers.
In addition, you will have experience troubleshooting and problem solving in an ambiguous environment. You will have high ownership of your work, as proven by a record of driving key project deliverables to their completion independently. To achieve this, you are motivated, agile, with strong time management and project management skills, and are able to move goods up to 50lbs and above with assistance.
Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of program or project management experience
- 3+ years of defining and implementing process improvement initiatives using data and metrics experience
- Knowledge of Excel (Pivot Tables, VLookUps) at an advanced level and SQL
- Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements
- Experience working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of driving end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership experience
- 3+ years of driving process improvements experience
- Experience in stakeholder management, dealing with multiple stakeholders at varied levels of the organization
- Experience building processes, project management, and schedules

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $66,800/year in our lowest geographic market up to $142,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
