Description
The Social Marketing team at Amazon is seeking an experienced engineering leader to join our dynamic group. We own Amazon’s automated marketing programs on social media apps (SMAs) like Facebook, Instagram, SnapChat, Pinterest, and more. In this role, you will have the opportunity to drive the development of our self-optimizing advertising engines that leverage machine learning, big data processing, and adaptive algorithms to deliver ads to our customers on SMAs.
As the Engineering Leader, you will:
- Lead a team of talented engineers focused on scaling our social marketing capabilities
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product, marketing, and leadership, to align our technical solutions with business objectives
- Collaborate closely with engineering leaders across SMAs to drive custom service integrations with Amazon
- Influence the team's architecture and strategy, ensuring our systems are designed to maximize profitability and deliver high-quality ads to our customers
- Leverage emerging technologies to build novel and innovative solutions in the marketing domain.
- Play a critical role in team's broader technical leadership community, contributing to long-term strategy and decision-making.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for marketing, a deep understanding of large-scale distributed systems, and a proven track record of leading high-performing engineering teams. Experience working with SMAs and data-driven advertising is a plus.

Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
- 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
- Bachelor's degree
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
