On the Books team, our mission is to inspire readers by making it easy to read more and get more out of reading. In pursuit of this, our 70+ person Research and Design Studio provides the user research, UX design, and brand design for Kindle E-readers, Kindle apps for phones and tablets, Author & Publisher tools, and book shopping experiences used by millions of readers and thousands of authors around the world.
The Author team for Amazon Books is focused on highlighting the Authors and the work they create. This role will focus on our Author follow program, the tools Authors use to manage their Amazon presence, and how we communicate with our customers. We are seeking a strong UX Designer to lead our efforts in creating seamless, personalized reading experiences for Authors across multiple touchpoints and surfaces. As a single-threaded leader, you'll drive the fusion of product and design to develop innovative and novel ways to connect with and retain book lovers worldwide. Key job responsibilities
* Lead the design strategy for Authors, aligning user needs with business goals and technological capabilities
* Utilize and implement a cohesive design system that spans multiple surfaces
* Utilize data-driven insights and emerging technologies (e.g., AI) to create innovative reading experiences
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and execute on the product roadmap
* Mentor and guide junior designers, fostering a culture of design excellence and innovation
* Present design concepts and strategies to executive leadership, advocating for user-centered solutions
* Stay abreast of industry trends and competitor offerings to ensure Your Books remains at the forefront of digital reading innovation
Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years of design experience
- 3+ years of delivering design solutions as a UX designer or interaction designer experience
- Have an available online portfolio
- Experience guiding or managing user research and usability testing
- Proficiency in industry-standard design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, Usertesting.com)
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years of mass-market consumer web / mobile products experience
- Experience working in a collaborative team and working directly with developers for implementation of designs

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $106,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $184,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
