    Project Kuiper is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite broadband network. Its mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet to customers and communities around the world, and we’ve designed the system with the capacity, flexibility, and performance to serve a wide range of customers, from individual households to schools, hospitals, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in locations without reliable connectivity.

     

    Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

     

    The Kuiper team is looking for a Senior Category Sourcing leader to support business and engineering stakeholders in selecting, developing and managing business relationships with critical technology and service suppliers, and others as needed to execute on Kuiper objectives.

     

    The ideal candidate will have a successful track record developing and executing strategy, negotiating master agreements and statements of work, and managing supplier performance. Experience working in new and ambiguous environments while solving complex problems with a broad range of cross functional stakeholders will be an advantage.

    Key job responsibilities

    • Use industry and relevant data analysis, create and execute strategic sourcing plans for a technology, business unit, department, or project to help internal customers meet their goals

    • Work with a range of stakeholders including business leaders, engineering leaders, legal, program management, and supply chain to negotiate a variety of agreements and contracts including term sheets, MOUs, NDAs, SOWs, development agreements, component purchase agreements and others

    • Analyze industry trends and evolving technology to proactively identify opportunities to reduce cost, minimize risk, protect continuity of supply, and industry developments that benefit Amazon’s customers

    • Influence suppliers' processes, technology decisions, and policies in ways that are mutually beneficial and sustainable for both organizations

    • Prioritize projects and activities to deliver maximum cost reductions and reliable on-time delivery

    • Manage cross-functional projects against plans and objectives to meet commitments and goals

    • Drive financial modeling of large and complex deals

    • Evaluate and monitor financial health of critical suppliers

    • Effectively lead cross-functional meetings with clear document writing, agenda creation, note capture and follow-up activity coordination

    Basic Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, engineering, finance or related technical or quantitative field or equivalent experience

    • 5+ years of experience in sourcing or related disciplines specific to Electronic components and semiconductors, and familiarity with Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA) manufacturing and testing with EMS/JDM/ODM in high technology industry

    • 5+ years of direct experience in procurement, supplier and commodity management, contract negotiation, category sourcing or related supply chain experience

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Be comfortable with ambiguity and curious to learn new skills

    • Master’s degree in supply chain, business, engineering, finance or related fields,

    • 5+ years experience in procurement, sourcing, supply chain, and operations

    • Technical acumen in EE (Electrical Engineering), foundry and semiconductor components, design/development with ability to connect to related business matters such as cost, manufacturing cycle time and yields

    • Working knowledge of the semiconductor industry, processes, technologies, and key suppliers

    • 5+ years experience in supplier evaluation/selection, should-cost models, negotiate MVA, NRE, and CAPEX/OPEX to ensure best-in-class cost for our products

    • High attention to details and proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously

    • Experience leading agreement/contract negotiations for complex, mission critical technology supplier deals

    • Global supply chain experience managing cross functional teams in a fast pace environment

    Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $133,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $220,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
