Description
Work hard, have fun and make history with Amazon Public Policy. The Manager, Public Policy will develop and execute advocacy strategies and policy initiatives supporting Amazon’s transportation and logistics businesses, including our interest in innovation across freight, long-haul trucking, and autonomous vehicle technologies. The role will work collaboratively across Amazon’s public policy teams on policy priorities, represent Amazon before policymakers, trade associations, industry coalitions, and other relevant external stakeholders.
The Manager will work across public policy and with our businesses, public relations, and legal teams to ensure alignment between business priorities and public policy goals. They will develop and execute advocacy strategies to support Amazon’s long-term transportation safety and innovation priorities. They will assess and anticipate public policy matters, oversee and coordinate external advocacy efforts, and manage and coordinate key initiatives in concert with business objectives. The Manager will report to the Vice President, Transportation Public Policy.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- At least 8 years of relevant public policy experience.
- An ability and desire to travel is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Juris Doctorate, Master’s Degree, or other Advanced Degree preferred.
- A keen understanding of the US policymaking process and government relations.
- Highly effective oral, written, and interpersonal communications skills; demonstrated ability to effectively and comfortably interact at the highest corporate and political levels.
- Maintain highest personal levels of ethical conduct, confidentiality, and integrity, with strongest professional reputation in the industry.
- Proven track record of working cross-functionally.
- Ability to understand how technical language in legislative and regulatory proposals could affect corporate operations, identify business implications, and synthesize policy documents for internal customers.
- Prior experience with steep learning curves, and the ability to effectively communicate complex information to a wide variety of audiences.
- Ability to influence, negotiate with, and persuade others.
- Must be flexible and demonstrate strong judgment/decision-making skills and political acumen.
- Demonstrated ability to build and foster effective relationships and networks with others.
