DUTIES:
Work under indirect and intermittent supervision usually alone on customer premises to perform a full range of skilled work in the installation, maintenance, test, repair, troubleshooting, inspection, reading, and removal of all types of meters, meter wiring, associated meter equipment and service wiring; to perform such work, usually on energized circuits up to and including 480V; frequently to work energized primary circuits up to and including 5KV and on or around higher voltage circuits in connection with work directly associated with Company revenue based metering/customer-owned indoor and outdoor substations; may on occasion work in the area of higher voltages; may be required to work from platforms, ladders, or other structures; to drive a vehicle, carry test equipment and supplies; and to do similar less skilled work as required. As assigned, be responsible for the work of up to two other employees of a lower classification. In connection to this, perform details of work, such as:
Verifying wiring for correct circuitry.
Modify metering installations as required.
Daily use of mobile data terminals (MDT)/laptop.
Use field test equipment to program, reprogram, read, check, change batteries, perform all work, etc., on electronic meters.
Perform metering tests in connection to customer or Company requests.
The repair of all types of meter equipment and meter devices.
To connect and/or disconnect customer services.
SPECIAL RESPONSIBILTIES:
For maintaining service continuity to customer’s equipment.
For correctly and accurately performing tests and making proper calculations based on those test results and reporting data.
For care of Company vehicle, tools, testing equipment and instruments.
To operate mechanized lift/bucket equipment as needed (CDL not required to operate the bucket).
In emergencies for quickly and accurately executing orders.
For observance of safety rules to insure safety to herself/himself, other workers, the public, and for exercising care when working around Company or customer-owned equipment.
CONTACTS:
With customers, electricians, and others involved with any given assignment or with employees of various departments in the Company.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Subject to the full range of outdoor weather conditions; to working in confined ill-lighted spaces and poorly ventilated and dusty indoor areas.
HAZARDS:
Subject to hazards of shock, flash, burn, or cuts while working on or in proximity to energized electrical circuits or equipment. Subject to falls from icy conditions, uneven footing, and in the use of ladders and other conditions as found on customer’s premises.
Exposed to the possibility of dog bites while on customer’s premises.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from high school or the equivalent.
Achieve "recommended" scoring on the CAST test.
Completion of the Company-sponsored AC/DC course and obtaining a score of 80% or better on the Company AC/DC competency test; or, completion of three (3) credit hours in AC/DC Electricity from an accredited college or university with a minimum grade level of "C" and obtaining a score of 80% or better on the Company AC/DC competency test.
Be alert and observant, thorough and accurate.
Satisfactory completion of the Ameren Power Meterman Apprentice program or have completed equivalent requirements from another utility's meter apprentice program or in lieu of formal training shall have a minimum of five years' work experience equivalent to a Power Meterman (must successfully complete Ameren Meter EV).
Must be able to distinguish between colors.
Must be steady, dependable, possess manual dexterity and have average strength and endurance.
Must be neat in appearance, demonstrate tact and diplomacy in dealing with customers, possess and maintain a valid Class E Missouri motor vehicle operator’s license or the equivalent from another state. Must be able to operate vehicles such as pickup trucks and large vans.

Grade Step IA 141 Step 1 of 1 (Top Step) - 50.53 USD
Grade Step IA 141 Step 2 of 2 (Top Step) - 48.09 USD
