Description We are looking for an experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our team on a contract basis in New Haven, Connecticut. In this role, you will oversee critical financial operations, including reporting, analysis, and compliance, while supporting strategic decision-making for the organization. This position is ideal for someone with expertise in non-profit accounting and familiarity with financial software tools like QuickBooks.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and present accurate financial reports to senior leadership and the board of directors.

• Conduct comprehensive financial analysis to identify trends and inform strategic decisions.

• Manage month-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate accounting.

• Oversee the use of financial systems, including QuickBooks, to maintain records and streamline operations.

• Collaborate with stakeholders to align financial goals with organizational objectives.

• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and financial best practices.

• Provide insights and recommendations to improve financial performance and efficiency.

• Support budgeting processes and monitor adherence to financial plans.

• Train and mentor staff on financial procedures and tools as needed. Requirements • Proven experience in financial reporting and analysis, preferably within the non-profit sector.

• Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel.

• Strong understanding of month-end close processes and general accounting principles.

• Ability to prepare and deliver clear reports to executive leadership and boards.

• Familiarity with regulatory requirements and compliance standards.

• Exceptional analytical skills to evaluate financial data and trends.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with stakeholders.

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
