Description

We are seeking a dedicated Senior Systems Engineer with expertise in monitoring and observability technologies, responsible for designing, implementing, and managing enterprise monitoring solutions while ensuring alignment with the credit union’s standards and industry best practices. This role also involves mentoring junior engineers and collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance monitoring strategies. Key Responsibilities

To excel in this role, you should be able to effectively fulfill the following duties:

+ Lead the design and implementation of monitoring and observability solutions for applications, infrastructure, and Information Security.

+ Perform upgrades on monitoring systems and integrate them with other tools.

+ Address vulnerabilities in monitoring tools in accordance with service level agreements.

+ Deliver engineering and operational support for enterprise dashboards and monitoring tools.

+ Conduct research and recommend new technologies in monitoring and observability solutions.

+ Proactively identify and contribute to process improvements and automation opportunities.

+ Document and maintain architecture, configurations, and system specifications.

+ Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers and engage with stakeholders effectively.

+ Communicate professionally with team members and leadership across the organization.

+ Commit to ongoing learning to develop both technical and interpersonal skills.

+ Share on-call responsibilities as part of team support.

+ Support additional tasks as needed.

eRequired Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications and proficiencies:

Experience:

+ 5+ years of professional experience in IT, specializing in systems engineering, administration, or development.

+ At least 2+ years of direct hands-on experience working with enterprise-level monitoring tools (e.g., Splunk, New Relic), including architectural and engineering expertise with Splunk solutions.

+ Proven track record of 1+ years serving in a technical leadership capacity, providing guidance and mentorship to teams.

+ In-depth knowledge and expertise in deploying and supporting monitoring solutions across diverse technologies and environments, including Windows, Linux, VMware, Azure, AWS, and SQL Server.

+ Strong capabilities in optimizing application performance and resolving complex issues through troubleshooting and tuning techniques.

+ Proficient in scripting with tools such as Bash, PowerShell, Python, or similar.

+ Hands-on experience with provisioning and automation tools like Ansible is an advantage.

+ Familiarity with Security Operations Center (SOC) processes or experience working with enterprise security tools is considered a plus.
