Robert Half Contract Finance and Accounting We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Property Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess strong full-cycle accounting knowledge and expertise with Yardi or similar ERP systems. This role involves overseeing the financial management of assigned properties, including maintaining accuracy in financial reporting, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and supporting operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Manage the end-to-end accounting process, including journal entries, general ledger management, accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and bank reconciliations.
+ Prepare and review month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial reports for assigned properties.
+ Conduct variance analyses and provide explanations for budget discrepancies.
+ Process financial transactions and maintain records using Yardi software or similar ERP systems.
+ Generate detailed property-specific reports and ensure system data integrity.
+ Troubleshoot Yardi-related issues with internal or external stakeholders as needed.
+ Prepare CAM reconciliations and budget projections.
+ Ensure all reporting complies with local and federal regulations, as well as company accounting standards.
+ Monitor cash flows, capital expenditures, and reserves for assigned properties.
+ Oversee real estate tax payments and monitor property insurance accounts.
+ Work closely with property managers and leadership teams to support operational and financial goals.
+ Identify opportunities for streamlining accounting processes.
+ Mentor junior accounting staff on property accounting best practices.
Requirements
+ Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
+ Experience: At least 3–5 years of property accounting experience with a focus on real estate or property management industries.
+ Software Skills: Proficiency with Yardi (required); experience with other ERP systems considered a plus.
+ Technical Skills: Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with GAAP and compliance reporting.
+ Soft Skills: Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities.
