Role Activities & Timeline
Provide a detailed description of the activities that will be completed during this appointment. For interns, this should include specific information regarding mentorship and curriculum, including an intended timeline for the activities.
Main lab work:
Basic science/benchtop research, and translational research. Routine laboratory procedures may include, but not be limited to, the following: Cell culture, growth, and gene expression analysis of cancer cell lines.
Activities Timeline:
1. Conduct and compare different breast cancer cell proliferation assays. Week 1-4
2. Evaluate the effects of novel anti-cancer agents on cancer cell growth. Week 5-6
3. Protein expression analysis using immunoblotting. Week 7-10
4. Gene expression analysis using RT-PCR and immunofluorescence. Week 11-12
Progress evaluation:
•Intern will be associated with a senior researcher like research associate or postdoctoral fellow for day-to-day supervision of techniques and developing research methodologies.
•Mentor (PI) and intern will have one-on-one meetings in the Laboratory, once a week (30-45 min), to assess the progress made by intern on the assigned weekly task (as mentioned above) and to discuss and resolve if there is any difficulty or problem in achieving the goals.
•The intern’s performance will be evaluated based on how efficiently she is completing the weekly given tasks and based on the final report.
