Description We are looking for a skilled and meticulous Legal Assistant to join our team in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This is a long-term contract position ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about intellectual property law. The role requires strong organizational abilities, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively under pressure.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and file provisional, utility, design, continuation, divisional, and National Stage patent applications with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

• Compile and submit Information Disclosure Statements while ensuring accuracy and compliance.

• Communicate with clients to obtain formal documents such as Powers of Attorney, Oaths, Declarations, Assignments, and formal figures required for U.S. and international applications.

• Conduct research using intellectual property websites to gather data on U.S. and international patent applications and trademarks.

• Assist with patent and trademark searches and file trademark applications, including responses to USPTO actions.

• Manage trademark proof of use submissions and develop precise descriptions of goods and services.

• Oversee daily docket monitoring, ensuring deadlines and schedules are met.

• Draft correspondence, proofread documents, and maintain organized electronic files.

• Process new client matters and prepare reference materials as needed.

• Schedule appointments and manage calendars with precision. Requirements • Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat for document preparation and editing.

• Experience with case management software for tracking legal matters.

• Strong calendar management skills to organize appointments and deadlines.

• Knowledge of intellectual property law and procedures.

• Ability to perform accurate dictation and transcription tasks.

• Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.

• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

• Capability to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
