Description We are looking for a skilled and precise Medical Coding Specialist to join our team in Baltimore, Maryland, on a Contract to permanent basis. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately coding medical diagnoses and procedures to ensure compliance with established standards and optimize billing processes. This position offers a unique opportunity for growth and potential long-term placement within a dynamic healthcare organization.

Responsibilities:

• Review and interpret medical records to assign accurate codes for diagnoses, procedures, and services using ICD-10-CM and other relevant coding systems.

• Ensure adherence to federal, state, and payer-specific coding regulations, as well as organizational policies.

• Collaborate with healthcare providers to resolve discrepancies or clarify medical documentation for accurate coding.

• Conduct audits and quality checks on coding records to identify and address inaccuracies.

• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding conventions and compliance requirements through ongoing training and education.

• Contribute to the development and implementation of best practices to improve coding workflows and reimbursement processes.

• Utilize electronic medical record systems, such as Epic, to ensure precision in data entry and billing.

• Minimize claim denials by ensuring thorough and accurate coding practices.

• Support organizational goals by maintaining high standards of coding accuracy and efficiency. Requirements • At least 2 years of experience as a Certified Coder in outpatient, acute care, or provider-level coding.

• Valid certification from a recognized coding organization, such as Certified Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS).

• Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM and related coding protocols.

• Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.

• Previous experience conducting coding audits is highly desirable.

• Proficiency in using electronic medical record systems such as Epic or Cerner.

• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

• Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines in a detail-oriented setting.
