Water Law Attorney

Our client, a leading Rocky Mountain law firm in Colorado is seeking a 4 plus years experienced Water Law Attorney to support their environmental practice. The Water law Attorney should have handled a busy caseload of water, civil litigation, environmental. and compliance matters for their clients. The ideal water law attorney would have 4 plus years of experience with Colorado water courts and/or federal court litigation, administrative hearings, and they should have experience with managing case strategy. The water law attorney should have a motions practice, discovery hands on experience, and experience with cases from start through trial. Experience with Colorado water rights transactions, including purchase and sale of water rights, title review, due diligence and drafting, reviewing and negotiating agreements.

Associated real estate and land use laws, including easements.

Experience with State and federal regulation of air, water quality, hazardous waste, mining, and oil and gas, and handling complex environmental litigation (both civil and administrative) is required for this position. Experience with Colorado water rights transactions, including purchase and sale of water rights, title review, real estate & land use laws, easements, due diligence, drafting, reviewing and negotiating agreements is required for this position.

Qualified attorneys should have a Colorado license to practice law, a JD from an accredited law school, and excellent research & writing skills. Requirements • Minimum of 4 years of experience practicing water law, with a focus on Colorado water courts and federal litigation.

• Licensed attorney with active membership in the Colorado Bar.

• Proficiency in managing all stages of litigation, including discovery, motions, and trial.

• Demonstrated experience with water rights transactions, including title reviews and easements.

• Strong knowledge of state and federal environmental regulations and compliance requirements.

• Background in real estate and land use law, particularly as it relates to water rights.

• Proven ability to handle complex litigation, including administrative and civil cases.

• Excellent research, writing, and communication skills.
