Description We are looking for an experienced Accounts Payable Specialist to join a mission-driven nonprofit organization in New York, New York. This Contract-to-permanent position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to a collaborative team while supporting a financial department undergoing exciting operational changes. Responsibilities:

• Process and accurately code a high volume of invoices, ensuring compliance with internal policies and procedures.

• Manage vendor setup and maintain up-to-date vendor records in alignment with organizational controls.

• Track and process recurring payments, including rent, utilities, and employee fringe benefits.

• Reconcile vendor statements promptly, resolving any discrepancies with attention to detail.

• Assist in preparing weekly payment runs, including checks, ACH transactions, and wire transfers.

• Ensure all accounts payable processes adhere to nonprofit funding requirements and approval workflows.

• Maintain organized and accurate records to support audits and financial reporting needs.

• Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to address payment inquiries and issues.

• Contribute to month-end closing activities by verifying the accuracy of all recorded payables.

• Apply accounting principles related to prepaid expenses and accruals as needed. Requirements • Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounts payable, preferably within a nonprofit or mission-driven organization.

• Strong understanding of accounts payable workflows and vendor management processes.

• Knowledge of accrual accounting principles and prepaid expense treatments.

• Proficiency with accounting software, particularly FUND E-Z, and familiarity with ERP systems.

• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time-management skills.

• Ability to work independently while effectively prioritizing tasks in a fast-paced environment.

• Strong communication skills to liaise with internal stakeholders and external vendors.

• Familiarity with tools such as ADP, Concur, and ACH payment systems is highly desirable.
