Description

We are looking for an experienced Mortgage Policy Writer to join our team in Phoenix, Arizona, on a long-term contract basis. This position is ideal for someone with a deep understanding of mortgage processes and find a skilled Policy Writer to our Compliance team on a part-time basis. In this role, you will be responsible for creating, updating, and maintaining clear, concise, and effective policies and procedures that communicate complex mortgage industry regulations and concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between our technical operations and regulatory requirements, translating complex information into user-friendly documentation that ensures compliance while enabling operational excellence.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain comprehensive policies, procedures, and standards that address regulatory requirements and operational processes.

• Work closely with teams across departments to gather accurate information and ensure documentation reflects current practices.

• Create and update technical documentation to ensure alignment with mortgage industry regulations and company objectives.

• Edit and review existing documentation to enhance clarity, accuracy, and compliance with legal standards.

• Implement and support tools for efficient policy management and documentation.

• Establish and organize a repository of policies and procedures for easy access and reference.

• Conduct regular reviews and revisions of policies to reflect updates in regulations or business practices.

• Ensure consistency in tone, structure, and format across all documentation.

• Provide guidance to stakeholders on the interpretation and application of documented policies.

Requirements

IDEAL BACKGROUND

• Strong understanding of the mortgage servicing, lending and fintech industries, including regulatory compliance

• Previous experience writing technical policies and procedures in a regulated environment

• Excellent writing and editing skills with the ability to simplify complex concepts

• Experience with document management systems and policy lifecycle management

• Strong research and analytical skills

• Familiarity with federal and state mortgage regulations

• Experience working in cross-functional teams

• Ability to adapt writing style to different audiences, from technical teams to non-technical stakeholders

• Experience with document formatting and publishing tools

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Technical Writing, Business, or related field

• 2+ years of experience in policy writing, technical writing, or related role

• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to manage multiple documentation projects simultaneously
