Your Future Role
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Lead Automation Engineer to join our team and lead the design and maintenance of automation systems ranging from basic to complex. As the Automation Engineer, your Primary Role is to be the lead developer of PLC-based systems which are integral to solutions supplied for a variety of project applications. In addition, this role will have the ultimate responsibility for all product offerings that include tailored automation systems, including incorporating external instrumentation & HMIs.
**Responsibilities** :
+ Life cycle management from conceptual design though end of life of PLC-based solutions for an assortment of applications including cooling system control, switchgear control/sequencing, parallel drives control, multi-motor synchronous transfer control, excitation system control and custom solutions per customer requirements
+ Selection/design of peripheral instrumentation & devices
+ Select and program HMIs appropriate for PLC solutions utilizing internal and/or industry standard HMI devices and software
+ Convert high level specifications into robust automated control solutions
+ Develop complete documentation packages including engineering drawings, test procedures, installation/setup instructions and operator manuals.
+ Optimize and integrate PLC solutions into existing variable frequency drive (VFD) or customer communication networks
+ Produce and execute V&V test plans for new or upgraded control system products
+ Collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders to achieve project goals, including project managers, project execution engineers, customers, suppliers and technicians
+ Troubleshoot automated system issues through analysis of drawings, control system configuration, code logic and data logs
Your Profile
+ BS in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology or related subject area required.
+ Minimum 8 years of hands-on experience developing and maintaining PLC-based solutions for varied applications
+ Proficiency in Step 7 & TIA Portal software
+ Solid knowledge of control systems, PLC technology and industrial equipment typical of medium voltage VFD/motor systems
+ Meticulous attention to details
+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
+ Solid understanding of Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet/IP, & Ethernet Modbus networks
+ Substantial experience with structured development of solutions in alignment with established processes and industry standards
+ Fundamental understanding of variable frequency motor drives and their applications
+ Ability to read and interpret schematics, block diagrams, network diagrams and customer specifications
+ Successful history of working in accordance with established engineering policies, procedures, and industry practices
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills
+ Proven ability to communicate effectively with internal and external individuals in roles of various levels
+ Strong time management skills
+ Travel to customer sites to interact directly with customers and/or Innomotics Service personnel
+ Typically, 35% per year, including international
+ Short notice travel, typically 1 time per year
The pay range for this position is $79,900 - $137,100. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
