    Job Description:

    A Brief OverviewThe Supervisor Coding is responsible for ensuring coding processes and workflow between providers, coding and billing is compliant and efficiently handled. This position supervises coding staff and coordinators and provides leadership alongside the Manager and Director for overall department efficiency. This role participates in interviews, hiring, orientation (provider and staff), training, determining workflow, job aid creation and upkeep, vendor involvement, staff scheduling, goal setting, performance evaluations, and recognizes staff. They will also assist with reports, annual planning, and budgeting. The supervisor will participate in ongoing policy and procedure review, development and implementation. They will help manage internal and external customer service. The supervisor oversees the staff to ensure effective communication and employee engagement.What you will do

    + Oversee the workflow of the department and communication standards

    + Coordinates questions and work with third party applications and vendors

    + Coordinates provider related questions and concerns

    + Coordinates provider orientation with HIM

    + Participates in clinic POC meetings

    + Coordinates denial review and appeals for HIM

    + Perform direct supervision of staff, to include clinical reviews

    + Plan and prepare employee work schedules

    + Coordinates activities with other departments to ensure that services are provided in an efficient and timely manner

    + Implement and maintain production and quality standards for the staff

    + Ensure staff applies primary knowledge while performing all aspects of assigned tasks

    + Respond to complaints in a timely manner

    + Participate in training and education of new staff, provides ongoing education

    + Instruct staff in work policies and procedures, and the use and maintenance of equipment

    + Confer with staff to resolve performance and personnel problems, and to discuss company policies

    + Forecast necessary levels of staff at different times to facilitate effective scheduling

    + Inspect work performed to ensure that it meets specification and established standards

    Qualifications:

    Qualifications

    + Associate’s Degree (AA) Health Information Technology or Billing and Coding Program Required

    + 1-3 years Supervisory or department coordination experience Required

    + less than 1 year RHIA, RHIT, CCS, or AHIMA credential completed within one year of hire Required

    + Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) (United States of America) within 1 Year Required or

    + Certified Coding Specialist American Institute of Healthcare Compliance (AIHC) (United States of America) within 1 Year Required
