Job Title: Procurement Specialist (12-Month Contract)
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Procurement Specialist to join our team. This role is pivotal in managing procurement processes and representing changes across departments. You will have the opportunity to work closely with various teams and take part in strategic sourcing and vendor management.
Responsibilities
+ Review emails and requisition lists to identify necessary approvals.
+ Engage in training and contribute to the development of procedures and checklists.
+ Represent process changes to different departments collaboratively with team members.
+ Review and negotiate contracts, learning the nuances of contract management.
+ Compile Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and invitations to vendors depending on departmental needs.
+ Participate and facilitate interviewing committees, managing and leading team efforts.
+ Source new vendors, working with departments to identify vendor needs for materials in sectors such as construction, water works, facilities, museums, tourism, economic development, and behavioral health.
Essential Skills
+ Procurement experience (2-3 years required, government experience is a plus but not mandatory).
+ Experience in supplier and vendor management.
+ Skills in strategic sourcing and contract negotiation.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Prefer a degree, but strong procurement experience is highly valued.
+ Certifications are important, with preferences for Virginia Contracting Officer (VCO), Virginia Contracting Associate Officer (VCA), or Virginia Construction Contracting Officer (VCCO).
+ Certified Public Procurement Officer (CPPO), Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM), Certified Professional Public Buyer (CPPB), or similar certifications are preferred.
Work Environment
The team consists of a CFO, Purchasing Agent, two Contract Specialists, and an administrative assistant/buyer. This position is fully onsite, with potential seating arrangements directly with specific departments like engineering, depending on project needs. The work hours are from 8am to 5pm, but there is flexibility to adjust start and finish times with a 30-minute lunch break. The environment is collaborative and inclusive, fostering a calm and respectful atmosphere. This role offers a balanced work-life dynamic and potential for contract extension from 6 to 12 months.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $55000.00 - $60000.00/hr.
