    Job Description

    The Order Entry Pharmacy Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring efficient and accurate order/data entry within a pharmacy setting. This position involves handling incoming calls and directing them appropriately, liaising with long-term care facilities, pharmacists, nurses, and physicians, and processing drug orders received through faxes and other forms. Technicians are responsible for triaging faxes by reviewing patient profiles to determine the appropriateness of orders, preparing documents by highlighting pertinent information, and entering medication orders at a rate of 40-45 per hour. The role requires handling 15-30 calls per day, addressing new admissions to LTC facilities, and resolving issues with orders by understanding the workings of the Automatic Dispensing Unit. This is a fast-paced, repetitive role that demands a high level of accuracy and memorization, with the expectation to process 200-300 orders per shift.

    Responsibilities

    + Handle order/data entry and direct incoming calls appropriately.

    + Communicate with long-term care facilities, pharmacists, nurses, and physicians.

    + Process drug orders received via faxes and other forms.

    + Answer inquiries regarding medications.

    + Triage faxes and review patient profiles to decide on order placement.

    + Prepare documents by highlighting pertinent information for order entry.

    + Manage 15-30 calls per day and address new admissions to LTC facilities.

    + Resolve order issues by analyzing the Automatic Dispensing Unit.

    Essential Skills

    + Proficiency in SIG codes.

    + Certified Pharmacy Technician in KS.

    + Strong data entry and order entry skills.

    + At least one year of order entry experience in a pharmacy setting.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Licensed in KS.

    + Nationally Certified.

    Work Environment

    The Order Entry Pharmacy Technician will work in a quiet, office environment that is production-based. The role is repetitive and requires a strong focus on efficiency. The position is full-time, with hours from Sunday to Thursday, 12pm-9pm, primarily focused on evening shifts. The work environment includes a closed-door setting, offering educated individuals their own cubicle and a predictable schedule. The team is responsible for managing all incoming phone calls, faxes, and electronic orders, triaging documents, and transferring orders to retail pharmacies.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.
