Mechanical Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer with deep expertise in electro-mechanical medical devices, particularly Class II respiratory systems, to support the development and optimization of pressure swing adsorption (PSA) systems. This is a contract position with flexible hours and the potential for remote work after an initial onsite period. The commitment ranges from 10 to 40 hours per week over a duration of 3 to 6 months.

Responsibilities

+ Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to prototype, build, and test PSA systems.

+ Characterize and optimize system performance, particularly around compressor integration.

+ Interface with compressor suppliers to refine component selection and performance.

+ Lead efforts in performance improvements and electronic control circuit integration for piston compressors.

+ Document and adhere to medical device design control processes.

Essential Skills

+ Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

+ 5+ years of experience in medical device development under design control regulations.

+ Proven experience with WOB-L pumps and other piston compressors.

+ Strong understanding of compressor operation, design, and control systems.

+ Familiarity with Class II medical devices, especially respiratory devices such as ventilators, CPAPs, high-flow oxygen systems, or oxygen concentrators.

+ Hands-on lab experience with prototyping, testing, and system integration.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Proficiency in medical device design control processes.

+ Experience with electronic control circuit integration.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $85000.00 - $95000.00/hr.
