    **Job Title:** Staff Accountant

    **Reports to:** Accounting Manager

    **FLSA Status:** Non-Exempt

    **Salary Grade:** NE17

    **Supervisory Responsibility:** No

    SUMMARY:

    The Staff Accountant primary responsibility is to prepare and maintain detailed reconciliations of balance sheet accounts on a daily and monthly basis. Research and resolve outstanding items in a timely manner. Additionally, completes ad hoc requests to support the requirement of the department.

     

    **ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** include the following. Other duties may be assigned by supervisor.

    + Prepare and maintain detailed reconciliations of balance sheet accounts on a daily and monthly basis. Research and resolve outstanding items in a timely manner.

    + Track and analyze non-performing loans on a monthly basis. Provide management with detailed monthly reporting for each non-performing loan.

    + Maintain the Fixed Asset ledger and associated depreciation schedules on the Sage Software system; prepare monthly journal entries and reconciliations to ensure the proper recording of new purchases and disposals. Maintain the Prepaid ledger, associated amortization schedules and reconciliations by preparing monthly journal entries to ensure proper amortization and recording of prepaid expenses.

    + Assist in maintaining the Investment ledger through IPS by performing daily and monthly amortization, assisting with investment calls, purchases and sales. Assist with the preparation of monthly reconciliations to ensure proper recording of investments.

    + Support the timely reporting of key financial information, monitor the performance and quality of activities performed based upon company standards.

    REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

    + Bachelor’s degree in business related field or equivalent level of education and experience.

    + Effective verbal and written communication skills.

    + Well organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks and work to time sensitive deadlines.

    + Ability to work well independently and in groups.

    + Working knowledge with Microsoft Office Programs; Excel and Word.

    POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS:

    This is a full-time position. Office hours Monday – Friday 8:30am – 5:00pm. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

    TRAVEL:

    No travel required.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS:

    Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace; bilingual skills a plus. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business information, including but not limited to company policies and procedures. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and customers.
