    Job Title: Lab Computing AnalystJob Description

     

    We are seeking a highly motivated Lab Computing Analyst to provide critical support within a dynamic laboratory IT service team. This role involves providing technical assistance to laboratory environments integrated with instrumentation and ensuring the seamless operation of Windows-based platforms.

    Responsibilities

    + Implement, monitor, and provide technical support for laboratory IT environments typically integrated with instrumentation.

    + Implement customer-specified benchtop computing designs and processes.

    + Administer and ensure connectivity of Windows-based platforms.

    + Support operating systems, desktop hardware and peripherals, instrument-controlled software, core desktop applications, and computer imaging.

    + Manage onboarding, retirement, and relocation of equipment.

    + Implement Windows-based security, including user/group permissions, file/folder permissions, group policies, and local security policies.

    + Analyze, identify, and implement enhancements, upgrades, and solutions to improve desktop platform support.

    + Ensure adherence to corporate policies through periodic reporting and compliance programs.

    + Act as a technical support contact for instrument vendors.

    + Repair and troubleshoot instrument-related computers and escalate issues to infrastructure teams.

    + Provide technical support for new system validations and change management efforts.

    + Create and maintain a physical inventory of lab equipment, PCs, software, and other specified information.

    + Submit weekly engineer reports to the team lead by close of business on the last business day of the week.

    + Act as a point of contact for software/hardware-related inquiries.

    + Participate in team support across all practices as required.

    + Demonstrate appropriate use of office equipment/software after training.

    + Maintain training and compliance in health and safety, security, environmental, and operational aspects of daily activities.

    Essential Skills

    + Excellent customer service skills complemented by the ability to interpret client requests.

    + Ability to troubleshoot complex technology issues.

    + Strong verbal and written communication skills.

    + Proficiency in identifying, tracking, and completing tasks for multiple projects within prescribed timeframes.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Bachelor's Degree with two plus years of technical experience, or Associate's Degree with three plus years of technical experience, or High School Diploma or equivalent with five plus years of technical experience.

    + Experience with Microsoft Office, networking, remote computing, and backup systems.

    + Experience with scientific instrumentation.

    + Experience in a Life Science environment.

    + Experience in a validated environment.

    + Experience working in GxP, ISO, and FDA compliant facilities.

    Work Environment

    The role requires working in laboratory-controlled environments, necessitating personal protective equipment such as lab coats and safety glasses. The job pace may be fast, with demands requiring stationary positions more than 25% of the time. Movement between labs, corridors, adjoining rooms, and buildings onsite may be necessary. Tasks may involve operating instruments, objects, tools, or controls, requiring bending, squatting, stretching, and reaching. Occasionally, the role may require moving or lifting up to 25 pounds, with potential for lifting up to 50 pounds. Vision abilities needed include close-range observation, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment. Operating computers and office machinery like calculators, copy machines, and printers is part of the job. Handling hazardous waste according to local, state, and federal regulations might be required. There's potential exposure to lab-based hazards like extreme temperatures, biological materials, and hazardous chemicals. Medical clearance, respiratory protection training, and fit testing may be required for respirator use.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $28.00/hr.
