    Join a dynamic team as a Survey Crew Chief where you will have the opportunity to work on a major highway design project. This entry-level position offers significant career growth potential, starting as an Instrument Person with the possibility to advance to a Rod Person. You will engage in a variety of surveying tasks, ensuring data accuracy and safety compliance in all weather conditions.

    Responsibilities

    + Coordinate daily with the field coordinator, project managers, and office staff.

    + Adhere to safety regulations and work practices.

    + Supervise and manage survey crew members.

    + Operate independently as a one-person crew when necessary.

    + Upload and download data from data collectors daily.

    + Care for and charge survey instrumentation regularly.

    + Advance knowledge and skills with technology and equipment upgrades.

    + Assist the Party Chief in transporting survey equipment and supplies to the job site.

    + Clear vegetation obstructing the line of sight.

    + Participate in the collection of survey data.

    + Assist with office tasks and learning CAD during inclement weather.

    Essential Skills

    + Proficiency in using survey equipment such as Trimble GPS, Robotics, Total Stations, and Data Collectors.

    + Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.

    + Experience in running a crew using robotic total stations and GPS is preferred.

    + Familiarity with AutoCAD is advantageous.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Experience with Total Station, Microstation, and AutoCAD software is beneficial.

    + Knowledge of topography, construction stakeout, and ALTA surveys is a plus.

    + Willingness to learn and follow the direction of the Party Chief.

    Work Environment

    You will report to the Party Chief/Field Coordinator and work primarily outdoors in various weather conditions. The role involves physical activity, including carrying equipment and clearing vegetation. During bad weather, you will work indoors assisting with office tasks and learning CAD. Overtime is optional, providing flexibility for those who wish to increase earnings. The organization values safety and quality, aligning with established policy manuals.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $50.00/hr.
